New Eyes For The Needy
Can you imagine if you or a family member needed eyeglasses but you couldn't afford to buy them? Could you read? Could you hold a job? Could your children do their school work.
Last year, New Eyes for the Needy provided new prescription eyeglasses to 5,945 people in the United States. These individuals live in all parts of the country. They are children, the elderly, and the working poor who are desperately trying to make ends meet.
Without the help of New Eyes, these people would have to choose between purchasing food, medicine, and clothes - or buying prescription eyeglasses at an average cost of $250.
New Eyes for the Needy purchases new prescription eyeglasses for low-income individuals in the US through a voucher program. To be eligible for their program, applicants must:
A New Eyes voucher typically covers only the cost of a basic pair of single or bifocal eyeglasses.
Services Offered: If your family is below federal poverty guidelines (about $1,612 a month for a family of four), you may be eligible to receive a voucher from this organization for a free pair of basic eyeglasses or bifocals. You must have a prescription for glasses to participate as it does not cover eye exams. Must submit an application form downloaded from website. One of the many providers for this program is Wal-Mart.
